The Ender 5 plus has a larger build volume than the Ender 3. It is best for larger prints or printing more parts than you can fit at once on the Ender 3.

The Ender 5 Plus has an upgraded motherboard that is now running Klipper firmware to enable input shaping and improved capabilities in general. In tandem with Klipper, we are experimenting with using Fluidd as the printer interface instead of Octoprint.

The printer has been leveled using the bed mesh command, so adjusting the bed by hand should not be needed.

The printer is working and the 0.8mm profile can be found in Prusa slicer on the computer in the print room.

To access Fluidd when you are on the internal space Member Wifi, use the URL http://10.255.225.74

The Cataclysm (September 2025)

In the early hours of September 22, 2025, while diligently printing, Big Bird suffered a cataclysmic event, temporarily knocking it out of service. As there were no witnesses to the event itself, the exact cause is unknown, but the likely cause, as diagnosed by the first witness to arrive at the scene (and initiator of the print) was General Incompetence on the part of the initiator of the print.
