Basic information on running shift at All Hands Active. The shift staff down here are comprised entirely of people donating their time. These ladies & gentlemen are the reason we can stay open to the public. This helps:

  1. Provide the community with free access to basic tools, workspace, knowledge, internet, etc.
  2. Provides AHA with income through access to high end computing equipment compliments of MYTHLOGIC.

So next time you're down at AHA, please High Five the staff!

General Responsibilities

  1. Be awesome! You are the gatekeeper to this amazing place, your purpose is to make sure people are happy!
  2. Keep it Clean! Clean = Happy = Safe = Awesome.
  3. Get to know everything! People, Tools, Events: The more you can help someone, the happier they will be.


Current Staff

Runs a Shift

  • Dan Elliott also maintains the Electronics Workbench. He knows a lot about headphones as well!
  • Taylor Gest also updates AHA & Ops web sites. He takes fancy pictures with a fancy camera, and is generally pretty passive sounding when playing Brawl.
  • Eric Hampton also makes physical improvements to the space. We call him Bearic, as at one point there were far too many people named Eric. Now there is only Bearic.
  • Jon Huhn also acquires new equipment, sponsors, etc. He likes to play Super Monday Night Combat.
  • Dana Nelson also makes sure membership data is up to date. She's often developing some awesome new event to get people involved in, and rocks out in LoL.
  • Craig Ransom also makes sure software installs occur. Has lots of good ideas, doesn't seem to get angry, keep him away from the ladies.
  • Josh Williams also promotes events, creates events, manages AHA/Ops. Often confused, needs to write things down more often, and get more sleep.


Non Shift

  • Drew Baxter manages inventory, tournaments, etc.
  • Jenn Mann helps make the accounting happen with All Hands Active!
  • Jess Yaeger manages the Ops end of the accounting/books, inventory. Continues to make everyone's life easier by dealing with the devil money.

Opening / Shift Change / Closing Operations

Opening Operations

  1. Arrive half an hour before shift (watching the store) begins
  2. Count in (X-out), note any discrepancies (anything beyond $10 please email joshdont@gmail.com)
  3. Make it tasty: Stock the fridge, concession, etc.
  4. Unlock the doors if you're opening
  5. Remove the filth: Sweep/Vacuum/Remove Trash/Do the Dishes as necessary
  6. Focus on your more specific responsibilities


Shift Change: Departing Staff

  1. X-Out when replacement staff arrives
  2. Make it tasty: Stock the fridge, concession, etc.
  3. Remove the filth: Sweep/Vacuum/Remove Trash/Do the Dishes as necessary
  4. Focus on your more specific responsibilities
  5. Let replacement staff know about anything strange/different/important/exciting/awesome


Shift Change: Arriving Staff

  1. Arrive half an hour before shift (watching the store) begins
  2. Help the departing staff with shift change operations
  3. Ask them if there's anything important that you should know about


Closing Operations

  1. Announce closing 30 minutes before we close.
  2. Make it tasty: Stock the fridge, concession, etc.
  3. Remove the filth: Sweep/Vacuum/Remove Trash/Do the Dishes as necessary
  4. Politely remove non-members who are not guests of members after 30 minutes have passed
  5. Count Out (Z-out for tonight), note any discrepancy, email joshdont@gmail.com if we're off by >$10
  6. Place all receipts in today's envelope
  7. Z-in for the next day
  8. Note any discrepancies (anything beyond $10 please email joshdont@gmail.com)
