Manual

This is a benchtop model bandsaw capable of sawing up to 3 5/8" stock. It can be used with 1/8" - 3/8" blades. Generally, the 1/8" blade will be installed. A larger blade can be installed upon request.


Standard Operating Procedure for Band Saw

1. Equipment Delta 9" Band Saw
2. What Does it Do Cuts wood, plastic, and aluminum
3. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Safety glasses, plus any other PPE that may be required for the space
4. Required training or approval? ·       Follow Safety Guidelines
5. Inspection requirements before use

·       Ensure all body parts, clothing, hair, jewelry and other objects are clear of the work area and other moving parts before starting the machine.[edit | edit source]

·       Check the area to be sure people are alert and wearing PPE.

·       Follow warning directions listed on machine.

·       Ensure blade teeth are facing downward and toward the front of the machine.

·       Ensure saw table lock handle (located underneath the table behind the area the blade passes through) is locked at the angle you wish to cut at.

·       Ensure the upper blade guard has been adjusted to be just higher than the piece you are seeking to cut (no more than 1/4" clearance) and locked in place (lock and adjustment knobs located above and behind red upper blade guard)

·       Blade housing should always be closed prior to operation.

·   Place key (housed above the switch) into on/off switch, turn on, and ensure that blade gets up to speed and tracks well prior to cutting material. Only properly sharpened blades in good condition should be used. Dull, cracked, or otherwise damaged blades should be removed from service.

6. Safe operating procedures or precautions ·       Never leave the key in the switch. Always return the key to its housing after use.

·       Do not use this machine for magnetic or sticky/sappy/gluey materials or paint.

·       Keep hands and other body parts out of blade path at all times. Never cut across your body.

·       Keep material held firmly against table while cutting.

·       Stop the machine immediately if odd noise or excessive vibration occurs.

·       Be careful not to feed your material into the blade too quickly.

·       Disconnect the drill press from power source at end of use.

8. Emergency response and accident reporting In case of fire, dial 9-1-1 after which follow the AHA policy and guidelines.
