Minutes
- Announcements/new business:
- Operations:
- Class Naming Conventions - Jeremy
- Class names are inconsistent, should be more cohesive to look better
- Intro/Intermediate/Advanced labels for core classes?
- James would like a standardized "template" for types of Meetup events. Some potential external teachers would like to teach but it's a little daunting to get started without a process in place.
- Matrix discussion to take place in #Operations
- Branding
- Style and branding guidelines should go on the wiki
- Look Book Creation (style guidelines for fliers and social media posts)
- Matrix discussion
- Space cleanup day - Joe
- Joe and James made a plan to organize the space using shelves, label maker, totes, etc.
- Joe invites everyone who is interested in helping with the organizing plan to come to the next Space Improvement Day (4th Sunday of the month @ 2pm)
- The goal is to organize things into clearly-labeled totes
- Class Naming Conventions - Jeremy
- Financial:
- Joe is working on bringing in help with the finances
- Freshbooks not quite done
- Financial health outlook: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MTjgdvGJI9-FI7OFxkDdw-hJbirdUaxwBpERWVGVSQs/edit#gid=0
- Current Profit and Loss https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zyFGgMt1vwGwDnciNzjhT5_X7A4ackqJ/view?usp=sharing
- Finances are going in the right direction -- losing a fair amount less money per month
- Membership:
- Gaining members over the last couple months
- Streamlining volunteering - James
- Would like a volunteering schedule kept up to date, link is here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YO1l_Lm4twZbXICtmvzwt6Xc12_9prg02-bujivPO1o/edit#gid=0
- Would like more folks to jump on the schedule -- we are still struggling to fill in the second slot for several events, and it's nice to give folks a chance to take a break once in a while. Also it's good to have an extra person there in case we need to give a tour while the other one watches the shop.
- Google Form will be used in the meantime to track volunteer hours: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeZ3oy0RLg8utjbeyt7e3yBBra_6HtdREIU_qDsXlXFHHUybw/viewform . Eventually we hope to have a more dedicated system online. It's nice to be able to see how many hours are being given, not to be punitive, but more to understand the scope of volunteer time given, and to have a chance to reach out to folks if there is a significant drop off in volunteer hours after a lot of consistency (i.e. prevent burn-out). We'd also like to be able to give props where they are due.
- James will also be putting a lot of information about shifts and processes around running the shop on the wiki.
- Outreach:
- Bryant Community Swap Day (8/12)
- Artisan Market Community Free Space (every Sunday from April-December)
- Perhaps a spooky October-themed one? Could dovetail nicely with Tech Trek (also in October)
- Arduino user groups - David
- We're signed up for this, waiting on official communication back from the Arduino folks. Should be in a couple weeks; but if we don't hear back we can always start something anyway.
- Nate would like to see a general microcontroller-users group bootstrapped by this
- Education:
