- Announcements/new business:
- Operations:
- Board elections coming up in April -- Nate
- Who all is up for election? Joe and Robyn are at the end of their respective terms, Mike was appointed February 2025 when Nate needed to step down, Nate was (re-)appointed September 2025 when he returned. David was re-elected during our last election, so good until 2027.
- Situation: We need to maintain a "2/3" pattern of Director terms so we don't lose most or all of the Directors each year by virtue of their expiring terms. If both appointees are included in this election, then we go to a 1/4 pattern. Proposal: one of those appointed spots will be a shortened term (i.e. they are up for election April 2026 instead of April 2027) to maintain the 2/3 pattern.
- After some research, Bylaws say that appointed Directors will carry out the full term of the person they replaced, so appointees will not be on the ballot until next year.
- We will very shortly need to put out a call for those who would like to run/do nominations, and figure out who (i.e. someone(s) not running for election) will be in charge of running this election's operations, specifically the part where we collect and count votes.
- Given the implications of the above Bylaws rule, Nate will be eligible to coordinate the election process, and will get it started shortly.
- "Garage sale"/Spring cleaning
- Volunteers have started chipping away at some cleaning tasks, including the electronics area, as well as moving old/unused hardware to a pile that can be taken to SEMVCC later on. Jame picked up the pile late in February but progress is being made on a new pile.
- The pile has been taken, and only the plotter remains (which is slated to go as well)
- Daniel did a lot of work in decommissioning the old PCs in the space, and the scrap is ready to go to a recycler soon.
- Jade has organized the classroom a bit, so at least now the garbage is further away from the windows. One part of the plan is to run the old Ender printers during open times to draw in more interest. More to come as the group works on reactivating that space with something more aesthetic.
- Some things still need to be properly disposed of, i.e. the dead battery pile.
- Related to that, the Roland CNC, one of the Shapeokos, as well as the small CNCs we have in the CNC room are slated to be moved along, barring any plans to make them immediately useful.

- Changed Saturday's Open Hours to Sunday
- We've been having more people, but we've been forgetting to mark it on the attendance log.
- PC upgrades:
- The 3d printer computer needs some update at some point since its still stuck on Windows 10. Jade thinks having one public windows computer is a good idea. Still needs to be updated in some form. Could use someone to set up Windows on the Framework and get it working with the CNC routers to replace the Mac Mini.
- Jade will send Nate another Windows 11 license to use for the framework, so we can replace the Mac Mini in there.
- Job tracking:
- No solid plans yet, but likely a combo of in-person job board and some kind of online tracking system. Nate couldn't find a Matrix plugin in a few minutes of searching. We decided a whiteboard for in-person tasks will be useful, and then a shared spreadsheet to track anything else. Jade and Jeremy will work on these items, respectively.
- Signage: How do we get more foot traffic down here?
- Jade will put up LED curtains in the three glass windows, replacing the zines and the foam panels. Zines will go to a more conducive storage solution (Mike), and the panels will get put aside for other uses (Andrew).
- Sandwich board sign needs love -- apparently one side is missing. Bea has designed some new graphics that we need to take a look at and approve before we send them to a printer OR make them in-house.
- Do we want to put LEDs on it? Of course we do.
- outside signage update with adding LEDs to the sign. Maybe we can have a small sign in the bottom of an AD window.
- Looking for folks who want to contribute. We are meeting/planning in #space-refresh-cleanup on Matrix.
- Going to tackle things in small chunks to avoid any burnouts!
- Full window redesign in the main space to draw the interest of passerby's who already made it into the basement. Jade has been planning this and needs feedback before managing the implementation. This will require other expertise once the OVERALL design is semi finalized: There are aspects of CNC, laser cut, acrylic paint, and to design quite a bit of that detail itself. Nate and Andrew volunteer themselves to help on this; and there is a pretty strong interest, so can likely get a few others where needed.
- Printer filament recycling plans - Nate
- Filament in a box is ready to go to a filament recycler. Joe will resume this process and get it done.
- Re-evaluate internet costs? Can we switch ISPs to lower this? It's over $200 every month for meh performance, and not many folks are there often enough to really use it in any case.
- Jade looking into 123net costs
- Switch from DO to AWS?
- We can get a huge discount for AWS, but Nate is not savvy using it for hosting.
