New Shift Procedures
- Get proper Staff/membership forms filled to become a staff member
- Once vouching is done, go through standard new member procedures (some duplication may appear here)
- Add to AHA Members Mailing List
- Add contact information to the AHA Important Contacts
- Document procedures
- Add name to shift calendar
- What to do if you are unavailable for shift
- Contact other staff to switch shifts with someone else
- If the store is going to be closed, notify the general members list, and find someone to post a closed notice
- What to do in general emergencies
- Are you concerned about someone's safety? Call 911

All information below here is old/out of date, use with caution
The information below is out of date. It may be useful, but proceed skeptically ; ) Basic information on running shift at All Hands Active. The shift staff down here are comprised entirely of people donating their time. These ladies & gentlemen are the reason we can stay open to the public. This helps:
- Provide the community with free access to basic tools, workspace, knowledge, internet, etc.
- Reduce the barriers between someones idea becoming a reality.
So next time you're down at AHA, give the staff a High Five, Thank you, smile, etc., and if you're interested in helping out, please don't hesitate to shoot joshdont at gmail dot com an email. Thanks!
General Responsibilities
- Be awesome! You are the gatekeeper to this amazing place, your purpose is to make sure people are happy!
- Keep it Clean! Clean = Happy = Safe = Awesome.
- Get to know everything! People, Tools, Events: The more you can help someone, the happier they will be.

Opening / Shift Change / Closing Operations
Opening Operations
- Arrive half an hour before shift (watching the store) begins
- Count in (X-out), note any discrepancies (anything beyond $10 please email joshdont@gmail.com)
- Make it tasty: Stock the fridge, concession, toilet paper, paper towels, etc.
- Unlock the doors if you're opening
- Remove the filth: Sweep/Vacuum/Wipe Down/Remove Trash/Do the Dishes as necessary (Bathrooms!)
- Focus on your more specific responsibilities
Shift Change: Departing Staff
- X-Out when replacement staff arrives
- Make it tasty: Stock the fridge, concession, etc.
- Remove the filth: Sweep/Vacuum/Wipe Down/Remove Trash/Do the Dishes as necessary (Bathrooms!)
- Focus on your more specific responsibilities
- Let replacement staff know about anything strange/different/important/exciting/awesome
Shift Change: Arriving Staff
- Arrive half an hour before shift (watching the store) begins
- Help the departing staff with shift change operations
- Ask them if there's anything important that you should know about
Closing Operations
- Announce closing 30 minutes before we close.
- Make it tasty: Stock the fridge, concession, etc.
- Remove the filth: Sweep/Vacuum/Wipe Down/Remove Trash/Do the Dishes as necessary (Bathrooms!)
- Politely remove non-members who are not guests of members after 30 minutes have passed
- Count Out (Z-out for tonight), note any discrepancy, email joshdont@gmail.com if we're off by >$10
- Place all receipts in today's envelope
- Z-in for the next day (Make a count sheet for it)
