- Themes planned are Sandblasting, Laser Cutting, 3D Printing, and Soldering
- Backup theme is CNC (if a suitable project can be found)
Other Possible Events
- Online event: Maker Show & Tell?
- James will ask David
- Giving^2: Make 2, donate 1 crafts (i.e., crochet/sew 2 hats or scarves w/ a 1hr pattern, keep 1 to gift, donate 1)
- Could possibly be an online event
- Gift-themed classes (e.g., shadow box class, etc.)
- Just rebrand all our Dec. events as holiday events & theme them for the holiday
- Repairsday would be an excellent option for this
- Anti-Black Friday event; come make a gift and donate what you would've spent to AHA
- Tie in Small Business Saturday to the Open Hours Gift-making Event on Nov. 25
- Possibly do soap carving using BYOC soaps?
Interest-generating Ideas
- Coupons at local businesses for attending a holiday event?
- SCRAP & BYOC might be good candidates to ask about this
Make & Take Kit/Activity Ideas
- 3d Printed gifts
- CNC routed gifts
- Soap carving? What would we need (aside from soaps)
- Wood Christmas ornaments
- Shapeoko may have some good projects
- Would be able to do thicker wood than the laser cutter
- Maybe could use reclaimed wood and tie into our general theme of repair/reuse/upcycle
- Urban Oak? Hickory & Oak? There's a local mill that offers local area wood
- James' neighbor may be willing to donate some big chunks of oak
- Laser Cutter
- Glass etching
- Soap carving?
- Votive holders
- Resin casting
- James met an artist that does cool resin casting projects
- The artist seems very interested in sharing mold and process details
- Could possibly become a gift-themed class for fundraising purposes, but someone else would need to take point on planning
- Good idea to keep some holiday and non-holiday soldering & arduino kits around
Future Goals
- Create centralized EOY Fundraiser planning documentation
- Develop a year-round Business Outreach strategy
- Keep some activity kits on hand for open hours so people can do an activity when they come for open hours
